ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS

Adopting a rescue horse can be a very rewarding experience, but some rescue horses will require special handling due to their unfortunate pasts. The horses at the rescue are evaluated to determine their behavior quirks and level of training. This information is used to help make a good fit between rescue horses and potential adopters. Contact Jane with any inquiries or to set up an appointment to come see the horses.

  • Complete and submit the Adoption Contract

  • References are required.

  • Adopted horses must stay with the adopter for at least one year. After that, the horse may be sold.

  • If there are extenuating circumstances and the adopter cannot keep the horse, it must be returned to the Rescue.

  • Adopted mares are not allowed to be bred.

  • No horse will be adopted to be kept in a barbwire fence.

  • There is a base adoption fee of $250, some horses will have a higher fee based on age and training. This helps with expenses, but does not begin to cover the costs of hauling, Vet fees, feed, and rehabilitation.

  • All horses are health checked, vaccinated, wormed, feet are trimmed, and when necessary teeth are floated.

  • Please review Adoption Contract for complete details.
